Why would a church buy a Commercial General Liability Policy.
The commercial general liability policy (CGL) is usually purchased as a way to protect the church from financial loss that may result from bodily injury to a third party. It will also usually respond to Personal and Advertising Injury claims e.g. slander, libel, etc., a handful of loss exposures that do not involve actual physical injury to a body or damage to property. And, depending on the company, additional coverage may be endorsed onto the CGL such as sexual abuse, employment practices and directors and officers coverage.
